Pride Community & Education Center

Pride Community Center of the Tri-Cities is dedicated to providing a safe space to foster the physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual well-being of individuals in the LGBT communities of the Tri-Cities and surrounding areas. As of Fall 2019, this organization found a physical location for their center, but had not yet had their grand opening.

Trans in the South: A Guide to Resources and Services

Trans in the South: A Guide to Resources and Services is a directory of more than 400 Southern health service providers that the Campaign for Southern Equality team has confirmed to be trans-friendly and trans-competent. The guide contains lists of trans-friendly mental health providers, primary care physicians, HIV care specialists, attorneys, endocrinologists, and more across 13 Southern states. The guide also includes resources to assist with funding medical transition, and helpful information about insurance coverage. It’s free to download as a PDF. (Disponible en EspaƱol)

Tranzmission

Located in Asheville, NC. Transmission provides education, advocacy and support for nonbinary and transgender people in Western North Carolina. They have a list of queer-friendly healthcare providers on their website. Also, they host a variety of support groups including:

  • A group for queer and transgender people of colour
  • A group for people who are transgender, non-binary, and/or individuals questioning their gender identity
  • A group for people who identify as trans-feminine, or are exploring their gender identity and considering a transition
  • A group for trans, nonbinary, and gender non-conforming youth and their families

Tri-Cities Transgender

Tri-Cities Transgender is a transgender-led nonprofit group servicing the transgender and nonbinary people of East Tennessee. Through support groups and events created to increase positive visibility, they strive to promote social justice while ensuring the safety and stability of trans people across Appalachia. Their website hosts a resource list that includes medical providers and local businesses that are queer-friendly.

TriPride

TriPride works towards building a stronger and more inclusive community across Northeast Tennessee and Southwest Virginia by producing a great, family-friendly event that celebrates inclusion, equality, community, and self-empowerment. The Pride parade and festival switches off each year among the Tri-Cities.
